Context
Dampfolino UG operates in fast-moving German e-commerce within a regulated niche. The business had an existing WordPress build with significant UX and technical reliability shortcomings.
The theme imposed constraints, and a full rebuild wasn't economically feasible. Instead of starting over, we focused on making the existing infrastructure reliable, measurable, and optimized for conversion.
The problems
Unreliable UX — The WordPress theme created inconsistent user experiences. Navigation, checkout UI, and content presentation all had quality issues that undermined trust.
No tracking — No proper analytics setup. No GA4, no behavior tracking, no consent-aware event measurement. Growth decisions were made without data.
Payment instability — Payment processors weren't properly configured or tested. In a regulated market, payment reliability is non-negotiable.
Invoicing complexity — No automated invoicing stack. Manual processes for accounting exports created operational drag and error risk.
Our approach
Analytics & tracking
Built a measurement foundation from scratch:
- GA4 instrumentation with consent-aware event tracking
- Hotjar implementation for behavior insights and future CRO work
- Cross-platform conversion tracking and verification flows
- Custom dashboards for performance monitoring
UX & theme optimization
Rather than a full rebuild, we optimized within the existing theme constraints:
- Rebuilt key templates for improved UX and legibility
- Fixed header/navigation for clarity and mobile usability
- Improved checkout UI to reduce friction
- Adjusted Elementor components for consistency
- Refined error handling and UX copy for regulated context compliance
Technical SEO
Implemented foundational technical hygiene:
- Sitemaps, robots.txt, and canonical tag configuration
- Structured data implementation
- Crawl optimization and index management
Payments & operations
Stabilized the operational backbone:
- Payment processor setup and end-to-end testing (Klarna, PayPal, card processors)
- Invoicing stack configuration with Billbee integration
- Automated accounting exports
- Direct coordination with payment providers and technical partners
What we built (the assets)
| Asset | Status | |---|---| | GA4 + consent-aware tracking | Live | | Hotjar behavior analytics | Active | | Rebuilt UX templates | Deployed | | Optimized checkout flow | Live | | Payment processor infrastructure | Stable | | Billbee invoicing integration | Running | | Technical SEO foundation | Indexed |
Outcomes
- Payment stability: From unreliable to fully tested and operational across all processors
- Tracking: From zero visibility to complete GA4 + behavior analytics
- Invoicing: Automated Billbee integration replacing manual accounting processes
- UX quality: Consistent, legible templates across all key pages
- Response time: Issues resolved in hours, not days
What compounded
The tracking setup is the foundation everything else builds on. With GA4 and Hotjar data flowing, every future optimization decision is informed by real user behavior — not assumptions.
Stable payments sound basic, but in a regulated market they're the prerequisite for growth. Every new product, every seasonal campaign, every traffic spike now runs on infrastructure that's been tested and proven.
The ongoing engagement model means the business has a single accountable expert who understands the full technical stack. There's no handoff lag, no context switching, no re-explaining the business to a new freelancer every quarter.
Transparent time tracking builds trust and prioritization clarity. The business knows exactly what they're getting, and the technical foundation keeps getting stronger with each iteration.
